Our Young People’s Development Group Visited Wigan Youth Zone in February Half Term

In February half term, some of the Young people’s Development Group went on a trip to visit Wigan Youth Zone.

The Young Peoples Development Group is made up of young people from South Bristol that support with the development of 224.

Young people are at the heart of this project, and therefore play a pivotal role in making key decisions about the Youth Zone. They have already developed the brand with the support from one of our Founder Patrons Lucent Agency, as well as shortlisting the name of the Youth Zone that over 4000 young people voted for.

After a city wide vote the name 224 was chosen which stands for 2day, 2morrow, 4ever. ‘What you do 2day will affect you 2morrow and impact you 4ever’.

As the project progresses, the Young People’s Development Group will continue to consult with young people across South Bristol and contribute towards decision- making on other areas such as interior design, and staffing.

”During their trip to Wigan our young people had the opportunity to see how a Youth Zone works, enjoy some of the activities and get inspiration for the interior design of the 224 Youth Zone.”

”It was a very insightful visit taking some of our Youth Development Group to visit Wigan Youth Zone to speak to staff, young people and look at the different spaces, that will support with the next phase of their work. The young people chose Wigan, as it was one of the first five to open and they wanted to see a more established youth zone. The young people simply got stuck in to life at the youth zone and even initiated their own game of dodgeball, with young people attending that were bored! We are really excited for the next steps for this group and they will continue to do great things with young people, for young people on the development of 224!”
